When we got up this morning for Crossfit my daughter said her ankle was hurting. I told her she should probably rest it. She said she didn't want to start missing workouts. I told her resting it now would likely save her from missing more workouts. That calmed her, and she went back to bed. As I headed out the door I realized my foot hurt, my groin hurt, and my back hurt. I decided to take my own advice and turned around.
"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude."
- Maya Angelou
As I climbed back into bed my self-talk was mounting an attack. Why is my body letting me down? Then I remembered something the yoga instructor said at the end of class yesterday - "Give thanks to your body for enabling your practice". I thought about all the pull-ups, thrusters, burpees, and box jumps my body has put up with over the years. How could I have anything but appreciation for this loyal friend. Gratitude set in... and I fell fast asleep.
