"To me, if life boils down to one thing, it's movement. To live is to keep moving."
- Jerry Seinfeld
Back in the day I enjoyed must-see tv as much as anybody, but it was this statement that Jerry made in a local radio interview that stays with me today. If you've ever lived in NYC it's easy to see how he made this observation.
I visited my old hood this weekend. Perched in a coffee shop window, I watch people zip by on the sidewalk. I am struck by the energy in every face... literally EVERY face. Hipster, yuppie, delivery van driver, bike messenger, elderly, fashion model, immigrant... they all have it. Hopefullness - putting one foot in front of the other... every day.
Newyorkers know the secret of life. Figure out what you want, and go after it. It isn't so important whether you actually achieve it. The living happens in the pursuit of it. To live is to keep moving.
